Horton Launches Upgrade Packages for Generator Sets

June 12, 2015

Roseville, Minn. − Horton, Inc. today announced the introduction of the first generation of its line of complete fan and fan drive upgrade packages available for towable generator sets.

Currently available for a number of CAT® and Multiquip® generator sets, the upgrade packages will improve the performance of units operating with first-fit direct drive fans. The package’s key component, Horton’s industry-leading variable speed fan drive, ensures that the unit’s fan turns at the optimal speed to provide the ideal level of engine cooling.

In addition to more effective engine cooling, the upgrade packages deliver additional benefits that are hard to miss including decreased radiator clogging; a dramatic reduction in operating noise; and potential fuel savings of up to 10 percent.

Another significant advantage of the Horton variable speed fan drive is its improvement of the generator set’s cold weather performance by avoiding overcooling the engine. Unlike direct drive fans, Horton’s variable speed fan drive doesn’t run at full speed continuously. This ideal cooling control maintains the engine operating temperature, helping to eliminate wet stacking and crankcase breather freezing issues.

Upgrade packages are available as a single product number and include a variable speed fan drive, fan and a complete installation kit for easy procurement and installation.

Packages for additional popular generator set models are scheduled to launch in the coming months.
