Watch: Upgrading the cooling system on a Freightliner M2 with a Cummins ISB engine

July 20, 2020

With up to 350 horsepower capability and a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 66,000 pounds, the Freightliner M2 is one of the most popular, versatile medium-duty trucks on the road today.

Models produced before 2019 and featuring a Cummins ISB engine came standard with Horton's HT650 fan clutch. While that's a reliable product, the engine cooling manufacturer's DM Advantage series offers better technology, easier maintenance and ultimately more optimized airflow.

So whether fleets are taking advantage of some downtime to perform preventive maintenance or upgrade their systems, or a service customer with an M2 is in needed of a new fan clutch, it's a great idea to upgrade to the DM Advantage. This simple drop-in replacement is longer-lasting, easy to install and represents a full replacement as it comes with both a clutch as well as the drive hub that mounts it to the engine.

In this video, Horton product manager Mat Stahl shows how to replace one and explains why doing so is well worth the couple of hours it takes to complete this upgrade.
