For the past two years, Zeitner & Sons logged almost 1.5 million miles on five trucks equipped with Horton’s DM Advantage On/Off Fan Drives. The trucks included four Kenworth T2000s and one T600 model—all with Cummins ISX engines. Zeitner & Sons, a leading Midwest refrigerated-truckload carrier, agreed to test the DM Advantage On/Off Fan Drive after having some issues with the previous on/off fan drive. "We’ve used Horton products for the entire 30 years we’ve been in business, and the issue we experienced several years ago was the first significant one we’d had," says Mel Zeitner, fleet manager with Zeitner & Sons. "We identified the problem and Horton provided us with rebuild kits. Later, Horton further improved the product—now called the DM Advantage™—and asked us to test it. The fan drive performed perfectly in more than a million and a half accumulated miles on five trucks. It met our expectations of no problems or surprises. Horton expands Klondike Series® with replacement fan clutch and repair kits for Kysor K26RA Horton, Inc. has expanded its Klondike Series line of products to include a replacement fan clutch and repair kits for Kysor’s K26RA. This product line expansion is designed to help meet increasing market demand for replacement parts and repair kits as fleet managers keep trucks in service longer. The line extension includes Klondike 26, a rear-air replacement fan clutch for Kysor K26RA. The Klondike 26 line also features kits for repair of Kysor K26 fan clutches. They include rear-air major and seal kits; a lining kit for rear-air; and a hub bearing kit. Horton’s Klondike 26 fan clutch fits most competitive applications and is easy to maintain. The Klondike 26 fan clutch is engineered to keep your vehicle running even if it fails. The clutch will engage without air pressure, keeping your engine cool until the vehicle can get serviced.
>> Read More Horton announces issuance of reexamination certificate Horton, Inc. has received an Ex Parte Reexamination Certificate for U.S. Patent Number 5,611,415 in response to a request for reexamination of this patent by counsel for Kit Masters Inc. and Concepts NREC. The Reexamination Certificate confirms the patentability of all claims of the patent. Horton initiated litigation against Kit Masters and Concepts NREC in 2008 asserting infringement of U.S. Patent Numbers 5,611,415, 5,636,719 and 6,838,796 by Kit Masters and Concepts NREC for manufacturing and selling two-speed clutches and add-on kits that incorporate an eddy current fan drive. Horton is seeking damages and injunctions against these companies. This litigation is ongoing, awaiting decisions by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on other reexaminations requested by counsel for Kit Masters and Concepts NREC. Horton is a major manufacturer of two-speed eddy current fan drive products, including the DriveMaster® Two-Speed Fan Drive, the DM Advantage™ Two-Speed Fan Drive and PolarForce™ Two-Speed Conversion Kits. These products provide precise, highly efficient temperature control, reduced operating noise and fuel savings for a number of vocational and commercial applications, including buses, refuse trucks, truck cranes, cement mixers and other on- and off-highway equipment, particularly in applications with relatively little or no ram air.
